THE TOOLS YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Being a great musician beings with the will and desire to succeed. If you are committed to following your dreams, you are already on the way!
You will need a piano: acoustic or touch-sensitive, 88 keys [studio musicians may use fewer keys], pedals, and a metronome. Students whose feet do not reach the ground develop greater stability and form when their feet are firmly planted and supported by a foot-rest. A height-adjustable bench may be necessary for shorter students to be in proper alignment while seated at the piano; an adjustment of even a few inches can make a major difference in comfort, performance, and immediate technical progress. Height adjustable benches are used by students and master performers of all ages.
Advanced classical students will need access to an acoustic or high-quality digital piano in order to practice and develop the nuances of touch required to add intricate details and color to sound. Other basics include good lighting, a book for taking notes, assigned sheet music, pencils, crayons for highlighting and organizing the music, a metronome or metronome app, and a video recorder to keep track of pieces. This is a great tool when traveling, starting a new piece, reviewing repertoire, or preparing for a performance. Students who watch themselves perform learn to develop observational skills, self-confidence, pride, and a great love for themselves and their accomplishments.
